Er ... why?
I apologize for the shortness of this review - I'm still not feeling well, and am having serious issues concentrating on anything.
TITLE: Pirates of the Caribbean The Magick of the Stone (direct copy-and-paste)
AUTHOR: Beth
NAME(S): Fauve
AFFILIATION: unknown
HAIR COLOR: "Her long tresses were the colour of rubies when they lay in shadow" ... why couldn't she just say dark red?
EYE COLOR: blue-green
SPECIAL POSESSIONS: none
HISTORY: Uknown
CONNECTIONS TO CHARACTERS: She walks into Will's smithery at the same time as Jack (for an unexplained reason). Jack asks Will and Elizabeth to go on an adventure with him, and Will agrees, but only if Fauve comes with them (for an unexplained reason).
NOTES: Most Sue fics I've seen had at least some attempt at explaining why their character is present - this one does not. She's just ... there.
SAMPLE OF THE STORY:
The Sue appears, and clouds herself in contradictions.
Captain Jack Sparrow walked through Port Royal once more. His appearance had not changed much. The only difference was that his hair was longer and that he had bathed recently. However, he had quickly reapplied the kohl that lay beneath his eyes and now glanced around, watching out for officials.
Where did he bathe? Do they have showers on pirate ships now? You'd think with his tendancy to jump into the ocean, he should be pretty high on the sanitation scale, as far as pirates go. Maybe the author has a phobia of unclean people.
He did see several who looked over and he wasn't sure but he could have sworn he saw a smile on their faces.
Because after Jack sent him that lovely fruit basket for Christmas, Commodore Norrington decided he liked Jack, and took him off the most wanted list.
He spotted a lovely young woman with long hair that reached to past her hips. Her long tresses were the colour of rubies when they lay in shadow while her eyes were a contrasting and startling blue green. As she scanned the crowd and her eyes met his, he felt as if they pierced right through him. She was slender and needed no help from the tight dress she wore to accentuate her ample chest.
So she's slender, and she has a big chest ... without the aide of a corset?
The dress was beautiful, a rich mahogany on the top that worked its way into purple at the bottom.
Ahh, the English. So found of gradient dying, they were.
Her skin was almost white, paler than most women, and the dress did nothing to hide this fact.
The only way I can see that a dress would not hide an 18th century lady's skin would be if the dress wasn't there at all.
This story has three reviews - one of them is from an Anonymous persion who left their name as Fauve. Their review says "Mary-Sue would be a more fitting name!" I couldn't agree more. ;)
