A "songfic/story"
If anyone caught that entry that was here a few hours ago, I apologize. I logged into the wrong name on my LJ update client, and accidentally posted an entry here that should have gone to my personal journal. ^^; Ehehe.

I'd also like to apologize for not having a fic up yesterday - I was out and about all day, and by the time I got home, I was dead tired.

TITLE: White Waves Of The Caribbean
AUTHOR: Joselyn-Greenleaf, who also has Mary Sues for Lord of the Rings, Rurouni Kenshin, Inu Yasha, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and The Faculty. Oi.

NAME(S): Anne, aka Annie, aka Bonnie, aka Lassie.
AFFILIATION: pirate.
HAIR COLOR: black
EYE COLOR: not mentioned
SPECIAL POSESSIONS: none

HISTORY: Is the daughter of a preacher who fell in love with a pirate and ran off with him. And who might that pirate be? Gee, I wonder.

CONNECTIONS TO CHARACTERS: Is Jack's girlfriend. After various traumatic events, they get married.

NOTES: This happens "two years after Will and Elizabeth get married." Jack is dedicated and loyal, except for when drunk. His crew has also mysteriously dissapeared. The author makes special note in the summary that is is "NOT a Jack/Anamaria fic," and I'm really not sure why. There aren't too many Jack/Anamaria fics out there (I think the possibility of it being canon scares too many fic writers away).

SAMPLE OF THE STORY:

You're who, now?

“Mmm, as much as that sounds nice, and wonderful, I think we’d best get to sailing again, Jack…Last time we slept in, we got in a huge storm…And you almost got thrown over board.”

“Aye, true…But…You saved me, Bonnie.” He kissed her neck softly, “Please, Annie, love, do me this one favor.”

This threw me off. I thought for a minute it wasn't an OC at all, but Anne Bonney. I was like "Wow, that's actually pretty creative! It would be interesting if someone wrote a fic where Jack got in so much trouble he had to take on a new alias and --- oh, wait, nope, just an OC."

Fun fact: Anne Bonney was a female pirate who hooked up with the notorious pirate Calico Jack.

“You…are…incorrigible!” She mumbled turning so she could kiss him, “And yet…Strangely handsome, and obscenely humorous…but I love you for it.” She pressed a kiss to his forehead and sighed, “But, we need to get dressed, and get today on a roll.”

Jack groaned as she pulled the rest of the blankets off of him, the cool ocean air blowing in through the small windows of the ship, Jack shivered and reached for a blanket, “Bonnie, gimme the blanket.”

“Nope.” She held it close to her chest, “You’re not getting it until you get dressed.”

“But then I’ll have no use of it!” Jack muttered.

“Precisely!” She grinned, sliding into her maroon dress, it hugged her curves, that’s why Jack bought it…The dirty man.

Since when do pirates wear dresses?

Jack pinched her bum as she bent to pick his clothing up out of the chest, “You nasty man.” She chuckled.

Ever since they had met in the town of Clara they had known that it would be forever…She had barely even known him before she came aboard the Black Pearl, and yet…To Jack, and her…It felt right. Like it was supposed to happen, like fate had dealt it’s hand, and they were just supposed to enjoy it, and they did.

She was the only daughter of the town Minister, no one thought that she of all people would fall in love with a pirate…And the worst pirate of em all too, Capitan Jack Sparrow.

El Capitan! *cough* Er...

The idea of a minister's daughter falling in love with a pirate is mind-boggling. The idea of a minister's daughter meeting a pirate is also mind-boggling. There were no such thing as liberal religious figures then - they were all pretty hard-core about it, and I would bet any money a minister living in the Caribbean would be keeping his daughter under close watch every hour of every day.

I liked it the first time, when it was in the movie.

Jack smiled as he steered the ship into the harbor,

Ships the size of the Black Pearl probably could not fit into a little island town's harbor. The Dauntless was anchored way outside the port for a reason. The water is most likely too shallow for a ship that large to come in without seriously damaging it. I don't know why that bothers me so much. *lol*

looking over his shoulder at Anne whom was currently trying to fight off the bugs that were buzzing near her face.

Go, bugs, go! Destroy the Sue!

“We’re ‘ere!” Jack called, Anne looked up grinning.

“Really?” She looked around, “Wow…This is a big town!…First thing I’m doing is-”

“Getting a drink!!” Jack wrapped a strong arm around her waist, hoisting her onto the harbors deck.

“No, I think that’s what you are doing…I’m going to look at the shops!” Jack rolled his eyes at Anne as he bartered with the harbors keep.

“’Ow about we give two shillings…and forget the name…” He grinned lopsided at the woman, trying his charm out on her.

Can any fic writers come up with some original lines? I mean, original lines that don't have to do with frontal brain lobes?

“Jack!” Anne whacked him upside the head, “The names Sparrow…Is that all you need?”
The young lady looked up and nodded, “Good…Come on Jack!” Anne hollered over her shoulder running to one of the many shops.

Jack followed behind quietly, looking at the townsfolk as he passed, sneering at a few of the rich folk that gave him dirty looks, and tipping his hat at the lovely women…He’d be a playboy for life if he had his way.

Contradictions ... the author has stuck him with his "true love", and also has him wishing he would be an eternal playboy. Er, okay. She seems to have a slight grasp on Jack's character, but for some reason feels the need to pretend otherwise and write this fic.

I looked at the first paragraph of this fic this morning, but I was too off-put to go any farther.

*salutes the brave soul*

Since when do pirates wear dresses? Since Ragetti and Pintel. But they were adorable. This sue is not. Dresses are not practical everyday nautical attire. Especially not curve hugging ones.

"You called?"
Yeah. Jack..er...did you see this?
*Jack peruses, mumbling as he's reading*
"Anne Bonney! Ooh...oh...now..that isn't very nice! Letting me all down like that..."

…He’d be a playboy for life if he had his way.

"Now there...she's right. That doesn't mean, however, that I don't have some standards." *pause* "Spork anyone?"

Capitan Jack Sparrow.

El Capitan! *cough* Er...

Yeah. She's actually a Q. If you read further this is a Star Trek crossover.

0.o

Just kidding.

Ha ha! John DeLancie as a Mary Sue. That would crack me up.

I wonder if the original creators ever come across this stuff and just sit and cry.

I would.

Well, I did hear that a few actors and singers had gotten ahold of realperson fics involving themselves, and were pretty much scared shitless - but that's a whole different kettle of fish.

At least we can thank ff.net for taking those down. If it were me reading about some crazed fangirl's unhealthy obsession with unnatural sex in painful positions/places with me playing the main character, I'd never leave the house again.

we need to get dressed, and get today on a roll.

Is this the same thing as getting cream cheese on a roll? Or *gasp* can the author have failed to proofread? Perish the thought.

Can any fic writers come up with some original lines? I mean, original lines that don't have to do with frontal brain lobes?

Perchance to dream, huh? Unfortunately, no. "By the great frontal lobe of the Great Sky Demon! More gee-I-wish-research-didn't-involve-brainpower dialogue!"

“The names Sparrow...Is that all you need?”
The young lady looked up and nodded
...

...and immediately called the guard and Jack was merrily separated from his horrible Sue girlfriend and taken away to prison where he was quoted as saying, before the bolt was thrown: "Thank God you showed up when you did. She was about to take me MasterCard and head into town. Bless you gents."

The End.

You think this chick misunderstood the phrase "Bonnie Lass" and decided it was some sort of pet name?

But now she knows his FIRST name too, so there goes the confidentiality right out the window. Isn't Jack now, like, wanted across the Caribbean or something? Yeesh.

But yeah, at least Anne is a normal name. Kudos to her for that... But still, writing a Sue still puts her at -4376 points, so the little "real name" bonus doesn't help much.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there was actually a female pirate in the 1600s named Anne Bonny. Irish, if my memory's correct; I think she was condemned to hang for piracy, until she sprung it on the judge that she was pregnant and therefore couldn't be legally executed.

*Ponders*

Dammit, I know that that happened to some female pirate... I just can't remember which one!

I wish Sue writers did their research: I'm all for female pirates, but only if they're well-researched and interesting characters.

Not being too clear on my clergy members and church history, I wonder if someone could clear this up for me: was Protestantism the religion of choice in the Caribbean? And if not, Catholic priests can't marry, let alone have kids, right?

Oh, by the way, love the journal. Keep up the good Sue sporking.

A slightly related question: is it possible to write a GOOD Pirates fanfic?

Not that I've seen, but then I'm trudging my own way through the PotC section on FF.net where many a Sue abounds. I did spot a Will/Norrington fic, though.

Anne Bonney! Jack in even more drag...*thinks*

At that time, yeah, I think Catholocism was the seasonal flavor for the powdered-wigs in the Caribbean. Someone might wanna look that up, though. I'm a little shakey on my religion history.

Yes! It is very possible indeed! This [info]pirategasm was the first PotC community I found by the way and most of the writers on that site are great IMHO. If I can I'll find a link to one of my faves and you can check it out!

Well, the colonies in the Caribbean at that time were a mix of different European cultures, but I'm pretty sure the dominant religion of the area was Catholicism.

*looks around* Geek? Me?

Yes, Veronica, there *is* good fanfiction. You just have to look *realllly* hard to find it.
Check out "His Holiness, Captain Sparrow" by Beth/Cobragirl at the http://www.purplebrickroad.net/writings/hhcs.html. I think.
Anyways, it's taken from the snippet in the movie about imitating the member of the clergy... very funny. Hysterical, I assure you. Less witty as old gags that still make you laugh.

HISTORY: Is the daughter of a preacher who fell in love with a pirate and ran off with him.

For a minute after reading this, I thought that the preacher fell in love with a pirate and ran off with him. That didn't make sense, because at that point in time women weren't allowed ordination. My mind insinuated slash and mpreg. Then I realized that the damned Sue ran off with the pirate. Too bad: despite my dislike of mpreg, a slash fic involving a pirate and a minister would be funny. Heh, thanks for that phrasing. No offense meant; I think it's bloody hilarious.
